New Addition

New Addition

Dec 27

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas this year!!!

Here’s a piece I restored for my wife for Christmas to add to our personal collection.

As you can see in the pictures, the piece is marked “Zurich” on the front of the base.

This indicates the piece was probably originally sold as a souvenir in Switzerland.

It was in great shape and basically just needed a refresh done on the finish.

Here are a few pictures of the piece after it was restored:

My wife didn’t know I had bought this. So it was a nice surprise for her when she opened it.

Another prop project!

This one was a request for cones/ spikes for a movie project at Kent State University.

These were turned from a solid pine 4×4.

Here’s one of cones/ spikes fresh off the lathe:

Here are the rest before they were picked up:

As the holidays approach, the shop projects drop off a little so you know what that means…

It’s time to get ready for Christmas!!!!

Disney Tombstone

Disney Tombstone

I bought this Disney Uncle Dave tombstone about a year ago with a big ol’ chip missing from the hat.

Fixing this took a lot of time and patience.

It took many layers of 2 part epoxy mixed with baking soda to build up the broken area and seamlessly match it to the rest of the piece.

Here are a couple pics of the piece all fixed and on display in my home:

My shop wears many hats.

Lately the theme here has been “props”.

Got a great opportunity to do some video editing work for a Haunted Mansion themed haunted house at Disney World’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.

The customer needed videos set up so they could use them in their display to give a nod to the animated paintings in the Haunted Mansion attraction.

The following is a shot of all of the videos I edited and converted for them:

Here’s a link to a walk through of their haunted house a vlogger (grimmlifecollective) shot and posted up on YouTube —> The Haunted Mansion Campsite

A lot of work goes into putting this on. They did a great job, and the campsite looks awesome.

Arab Figural Nutcracker

Arab Figural Nutcracker

Here’s a unique nutcracker that came to the shop missing a jaw.

The piece was disassembled, the broken area flat spotted, and new wood added.

Here’s the piece all done with the new wood blended to match up seamlessly with the original.

The finish on the piece was also refreshed to bring out the details and make the piece pop.

The customer suggested I carve the piece with a soul patch.

Honestly that was a great suggestion, it works, and really looks great on this piece!
