Here’s a really nice Squirrel figural nutcracker that came in with a broken ear.

Here are a couple pictures showing the new color matched wood attached and roughed into shape:

Here’s the piece all finished:

This piece was a lot of fun to work on and came out perfect.

The Holiday lull is over, it’s Spring and restoration work is starting to roll into the shop again.

Here’s a really nice dog nutcracker that came in with a chipped ear.

Seems to be a common break on these.

Here’s a picture of it in process with new wood joined and ready to be carved:

Here’s the dog all fixed up and ready to be shipped home:

This is a really nice piece and the customer was very happy with how well the repair came out.

Arc Reactor

As I’ve mentioned before, my shop wears many hats.

While I specialize in restoration work, I also do some prop work too.

My son is a huge comic book and Super Hero movie fan.

So I put the 3D printer to work and made an Iron Man Arc Reactor prop to give to him for his birthday.

Here’s a pic displaying all the 3d printed parts-n-pieces:

Here are a couple pictures of it fully assembled and done:

Here are a couple pics of it plugged in and all lit up:

My son was absolutely thrilled to now have his very own Arc Reactor to add to his extensive action figure collection.

Here’s another nice piece I bought recently and restored to add to our growing collection.

This one had a few minor chips, an old repair that needed blended, a nail for the pin, and the finish needed refreshed.

Here are a couple pictures before it was restored:

Here are some pictures after it was restored:

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas this year!!!

Here’s a piece I restored for my wife for Christmas to add to our personal collection.

As you can see in the pictures, the piece is marked “Zurich” on the front of the base.

This indicates the piece was probably originally sold as a souvenir in Switzerland.

It was in great shape and basically just needed a refresh done on the finish.

Here are a few pictures of the piece after it was restored:

My wife didn’t know I had bought this. So it was a nice surprise for her when she opened it.

Another prop project!

This one was a request for cones/ spikes for a movie project at Kent State University.

These were turned from a solid pine 4×4.

Here’s one of cones/ spikes fresh off the lathe:

Here are the rest before they were picked up:

As the holidays approach, the shop projects drop off a little so you know what that means…

It’s time to get ready for Christmas!!!!
